Overview

I've led the UX/UI and visual design of the YourTurn mobile app that helps gamers find new groups, schedule play sessions, and use nearby stores as trusted meetup spaces, while also boosting visibility and foot traffic for local game stores.

Project vision

Offer a mutually beneficial solution for both players and local game store owners.

Offer a mutually beneficial solution for both players and local game store owners.

Challenge

  1. Encourage players to engage in tabletop gaming with new people

  2. Create incentives for players to continue using the app

  3. To stay coordinated with every possible event players plan to attend

Art Direction

The app focuses on being narrative-driven, so the visuals should be no different. The visual design draws inspiration from the storytelling elements of the Dungeons & Dragons series, a franchise best known for its iconic role-playing tabletop game.

Goal

To create a mobile app designed for both players and store owners. Players could create profiles, schedule games, and connect with others based on mutual game interests and location.

The app highlights local stores as suggested meetup spots and included RSVP and message functions. Store owners could post events, track RSVPs, and promote open play nights—creating a win-win ecosystem.

Benefit 01

Players earn in-app credits

for attending events, which can be redeemed for real rewards.

Benefit 02

Safe, Mutual space provided by

local stores for players to meet and purchase whatever is needed.

Benefit 03

Smart filters for finding

games, players, and stores for coordinated planning and positive play sessions.

Result

User testing revealed that 80% of participants were able to find other players with shared gaming interests in their local area, validating the app’s core matchmaking functionality.

Local game store owners reported a 15–20% increase in foot traffic during events promoted through the app, highlighting its potential as a business driver. Players consistently appreciated having a neutral, safe space to meet—removing the friction of hosting or joining games.

Additionally, the time required to organize a game night dropped from several days of back-and-forth coordination to just a few minutes using in-app scheduling tools.
